The hospitality industry has concerns over virtual worlds as competition for meeting space (and therefore dollars). But, “concern” is the wrong perspective.

Virtual worlds are here to stay in some form or another.

There is a lot of money to be made by adding virtual world elements to a hotel’s offerings for events and meetings (over $2 million USD pass through Linden Lab, the makers of Second Life, every day and this does not include the Paypal transactions that are often used by private estate owners).

The first ones to do this well will profit.
